    Easy Pan-Seared Honey Garlic Tofu

Finished honey garlic tofu dish on a plate with green onions and sesame seeds.

This Honey Garlic Tofu is an easy Asian-inspired recipe with a sticky sauce that glazes over crispy tofu. It’s a delicious vegetarian dish loaded with flavor thanks to honey, garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil. Eat alone or serve with a grain and vegetable for a full meal.

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ingredients

It's likely you already have a lot of these ingredients for honey garlic tofu in your pantry!

    • Tofu: extra-firm tofu is the best for this recipe as it’s had the most excess liquid squeezed out already (although you should still press out some more!)
    • Honey: brings some of that sticky delicious sweetness – any kind of honey is good for this
      • Vegan alternative: use a light-colored maple syrup
    • Garlic: four cloves bring a ton of flavor and get sautéd when we add the sauce to the pan-seared tofu
    • Soy sauce: a salty umami kick – low sodium is great but regular is also fine
      • Gluten free alternative: coconut aminos
    • Rice vinegar: a little vinegar to balance out the dish
    • Toasted sesame oil: a deep toasty flavor
    • Corn starch: when you toss tofu with corn starch it helps the tofu crisp up when you sear it
      • Gluten free alternative: Arrowroot powder – just use 2x more than the amount of corn starch
    • Toasted sesame seeds: for a little texture
    • Scallions/green onions: thinly sliced scallions add a nice fresh element to the finished dish
    • Neutral oil: vegetable oil, canola oil, or avocado oil are all good options

    How to press tofu

While extra firm tofu already has a good amount of liquid pressed out (compared to the other tofu varieties), tofu is stored in liquid and therefore an extra press before cooking helps to make sure the tofu gets nice and crispy.

To do so, take the tofu out of the package and drain the liquid. Grab a paper towel or dish towel, plate, and heavy object such as a cast iron skillet or heavy cutting board.

Wrap the tofu in the paper towel and place it on the plate. Place the heavy object on top and let it press out the extra liquid for about 10 minutes. Discard the paper towel and you’re ready to go.

    Step by step instructions

This is a pretty simple pan-fried tofu recipe, with just a few steps and a very quick sauce that's so flavorful:

    1. Prep the tofu. Cut your pressed tofu into 1 inch cubes by first cutting it in half horizontally, then vertically to create the cubes. In a medium bowl add the tofu cubes and corn starch and gently toss to combine.

    2. Cook the tofu. Warm neutral oil over medium-high heat in a large non-stick skillet. Add the corn starch coated tofu to the skillet in a single layer and pan-sear until golden brown and crispy. About 5 minutes on both sides.

    3. Make the sauce. In a small bowl make the honey garlic sauce by mixing together the honey, garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil.

    4. Add the sauce to the tofu. Lower the skillet to medium heat and pour the sauce in. Simmer until desired thickness – about 3-4 minutes.

Serve with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

    Tips and tricks

Although this is an easy recipe for cute little honey garlic tofu bites, the below tips and tricks will help you nail it:

    • PRESS YOUR TOFU! Get as much excess liquid out of the tofu block as you can to help it crisp up. If you have a tofu press even better but most people don’t!
    • Be gentle when you toss the cubed tofu with the corn starch. Tofu tends to be pretty crumbly, so to keep the cubes intact, toss gently.
    • Similar to meat, if the tofu pieces do not release from the pan they're not ready to flip. Wait until it’s pretty easy to release the pieces to flip them to help make sure they’re crisped up nicely.
    • Add some spice by mixing chili garlic sauce or sriracha into the sauce.
    • Sear as many sides of the tofu as you want – I personally only do the 2 largest sides but you can continue to sear each individual side if you’d like.
    • How to toast your own sesame seeds – heat the seeds over medium low heat in a non-stick pan for 5ish minutes until golden.

    What to serve with tofu

To make this honey garlic tofu a full meal, serve it with any of the below!

    • Grains (brown rice, white rice, jasmine rice, coconut rice, quinoa, farro, barley)
    • Vegetables (broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower, carrots, string beans, etc.)
    • Sweet potatoes

    FAQ

How do I store this recipe?

Store the tofu in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

How do I reheat this recipe?

Easiest way to reheat is in the microwave for a few minutes until warmed through.

Can I bake the tofu instead?

You can! Preheat the oven to 400F and follow the instructions through tossing in corn starch. Then instead of searing in a pan, place the pieces on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes tossing half way through until golden brown. Separately, make the sauce and simmer it on the stove top until slightly thickened. Toss with the baked tofu.

    Is tofu healthy?

It does have a lot of protein and is low in calories, however it does have high rates of soy. Keep in mind the sauce it’s with will add additional calories/etc. More info here.

What’s the difference between firm and extra firm tofu?

The amount of water that’s in the tofu! The more firm the tofu, the lower the water content. So firm tofu has a higher water content than extra firm tofu.

What are all the different types of tofu you can buy?

silken, soft, firm, extra firm or super firm. I find that firm and extra firm are the most common in stores.

    How is tofu made?

Tofu is made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into blocks (hence the high soy content!).

    Can tofu be eaten raw?

It can, but it’s not my favorite.

Where is tofu in the supermarket?

It’s usually where the vegetarian and plant-based options are in the refrigerated section (e.g., plant-based sausage, etc.).

Can I use potato starch in place of corn starch?

I would not recommend it as it doesn't last long on high heat which is needed to sear the tofu.

    Easy Cake Mix Peach Cobbler

Cake mix peach cobbler with ice cream on top.

This Cake Mix Peach Cobbler recipe is such an easy peach dessert where you quite literally dump the ingredients and bake! With a golden brown buttery top, and sweet, gooey peach filling with warm spices, it's the perfect dessert for an any time of year peach cobbler craving.

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ingredients

Just a few simple pantry ingredients are needed to make this easy peach cobbler recipe:

    • Yellow box cake mix: yellow cake mix is the way to go because of its rich buttery flavor. This is used as the cobbler topping.
    • Canned peaches: regular canned peaches in heavy syrup. Don't be weary when you see canned peaches, they have all the same nutrients as fresh regular peaches (although are stored in a sugary syrup which if that worries you get the light syrup or peaches in juice). More on this here.
    • Salted butter: salted butter is used in this recipe because the salt helps balance the sweetness.
    • Spices: a combination of cinnamon and nutmeg gives this recipe a warming flavor.

    Ingredient substitutions

To make this peach cobbler dump cake, instead of....

    • Cake mix: you can substitute white cake mix instead of yellow. Or even spice cake mix would be delicious.
    • Canned peaches in syrup: canned peaches in light syrup or canned peaches in juice also work but the end result will be a bit more liquidy. I suggest mixing 1 tablespoon corn starch in with the peaches if you go this route.
    • Salted butter: unsalted butter is fine but I suggest adding ½ teaspoon salt and mixing into the peaches.
    • Spices: cinnamon and nutmeg are the classics, but adding some cardamom would also be great.

    Step by step instructions

Cake mix cobbler recipe is one of the easiest desserts I've ever made – you basically just dump and bake!

    1. Dump the peaches. Dump 2 full cans of peaches and their liquid into an 11x7 baking casserole dish. For the 3rd can, separate the peaches and their juice and use only the peaches - add to the baking dish.

    2. Add the spices. To the peaches, add the 1 teaspoon cinnamon and ½ teaspoon nutmeg. Mix to combine.

    3. Dump the cake mix. Right on top of your peaches, add the cake mix and spread into an even, flat layer.

    4. Add the butter. Melt the 1 ½ stick of salted butter and pour the fully melted butter evenly on top of the cake mix. Use a spatula as needed to try to cover as much of the dry cake mix as you can.

    5. Bake. Bake the cobbler at 350F for 40-50 minutes until deeply golden brown and the edges are bubbly.

    Tips and tricks

This simple peach cobbler recipe is pretty no-fail, but below are some pro tips to help make sure it goes off without a hitch.

    • Preheat the oven before you start! That way you can put it in right when you’re done.
    • Only prep this right before you’re about to bake it. You don’t want the liquid to absorb into the cake mix too much before it has a chance to enter the oven.
    • Spread the butter evenly – it won’t be perfect but do your best to make sure there aren’t any dry patches of cake mix before you bake.
    • Alternate butter method – some people slice the butter really thinly and lay it across the surface, I tried this but found that it was really easy to get dry spots of cake mix after baking. So if you try this method just make sure that the butter is covering just about every inch of cake mix by slicing it into really small pieces, and you're using cold butter so it slices easily.
    • Add brown sugar – if you want to up the sweetness even more, sprinkle some brown sugar over the dry cake mix before adding the butter.
    • If you want a thicker peach base, add 1-2 tablespoon of corn starch to the peaches when you mix in the cinnamon.
    • Let it cool slightly to room temperature before you cut into it, this will help it all set a bit more. And if you're adding ice cream this will help make sure it doesn't melt right on contact (although a little melty scoop of ice cream might be the best part, but don't worry it'll still get gooey)!

    How to serve peach cobbler

This recipe is perfect as it is (if I do say so myself), but if you want to add a little something extra on top of the cobbler after it's baked, below are my suggestions:

    • Vanilla ice cream
    • Cinnamon ice cream
    • Whipped cream
    • Sprinkling of powdered sugar
    • Chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans
    • Caramel drizzle

    FAQs

Can I prep this in advance?

You can prep up to right before you add the dry cake mix on top of the peaches. Unfortunately the longer the cake mix sits, the more liquid from the peaches it’ll absorb and the texture will not be right, so you can’t prep it all the way through in advance.

    How do I store leftovers?

In the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

    How do I reheat cobbler?

You can reheat either in the oven at 325F for about 10-15 minutes until heated through, or simply pop in the microwave for a  few minutes until warm.

    Can I use fresh peaches?

I haven’t tried it, but I don’t see why not! The great thing about this recipe is that you don't have to wait for peach season to swing around because the canned peaches work so well!

How do I know if a peach is ripe?

To make sure you’re buying ripe peaches, give them a gentle squeeze, if they give a little (similar to an avocado) then it should be good and you will likely get juicy peaches!

What’s the difference between dump cake and cobbler?

Dump cake is made by quite literally just dumping all ingredients into a dish and baking, whereas cobbler requires separate mixing of the batter for the topping.

Can I use other flavored pie fillings instead of peaches?

Absolutely! While this recipe is great because it allows you to have peach cobbler year-round, if you want to make a more seasonal cobbler, cherry pie filling is great, blueberry would be delicious, so would strawberry.

Can I make this in a dutch oven?

Sure! Just make sure it's large enough surface area and bake it without the lid.

    Pineapple Coconut Margarita

Pineapple coconut margarita in a glass.

This Pineapple Coconut Margarita recipe is so refreshing with a fun tropical flavor twist. Bright pineapple juice paired with creamy coconut milk, zesty lime juice, and blanco tequila all combined into a perfect cocktail for warm days.

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ingredients

Just a few simple ingredients make up a coconut pineapple margarita – below are some notes on each that takes this classic cocktail and gives it a tropical spin.

    • Tequila: blanco tequila is (in my opinion) the best tequila for margaritas because it’s mild in flavor so mixes well.
    • Pineapple juice: Store-bought for this is fully fine but definitely try to buy one that is 100% pineapple juice though, otherwise it could have additives, sweeteners, and other juices.
    • Coconut milk: canned full fat unsweetened coconut milk is what I used. You could use low/no fat if you prefer, it will just make the result a bit less creamy.
    • Lime juice: use fresh lime juice! It really makes all the difference in the flavor. Store-bought often tastes a bit sweeter and more artificial.

    Instructions

    1. Combine & shake. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail mixer or mason jar. Shake until well combined and serve over ice.

    Tips and tricks

    • Mix your coconut milk – canned coconut milk separates so when you open the can there will likely be a thick substance and a liquid substance completely separated. Just take a spoon and mix together until smooth!
    • Make your own fresh pineapple juice – blend some fresh pineapple and strain!
    • Decorate the glass – I used pineapple and lime slice to decorate the glass which I thought was cute! You could also add a salt rim or do a lime wedge instead.
    • How to make a salt rim – rub a slice of lime across the rim of a glass and dipping it in a pile of kosher salt. Add some lime zest to the salt to make “margarita salt”
      • Or stay in theme and make a coconut rim! Instead of rubbing salt or sugar (or in addition to) along the rim of the glass, add some crushed up toasted coconut
    • Really shake it – use a cocktail shaker or mason jar and give it a good shake to combine.

    Recipe customizations

    • This recipe does not include orange liqueur or triple sec, I didn't think it was necessary but feel free to include if you'd like!
    • You can kind of think of this like a non-blended tequila pina colada, but you could sub in rum to make it even closer
    • This tropical margarita doesn't have any added sweeteners but If after you taste the finished drink you'd like it to be a bit sweeter, feel free to add some simple syrup or agave nectar in
    • If you LOVE coconut, use coconut tequila or even coconut flavored vodka to amp up that flavor
    • If you don't want it to be creamy, try coconut water in place of coconut milk.
    • Make it smoky – instead of using blanco tequila make it a smoky cocktail by using reposado or mezcal.

    FAQs

My drink separated, what do I do?

Just give it a good stir or shake and it’ll come back together!

Can I prep these in advance?

Sure! It’ll separate a bit as it sits so before you serve just give it another good mix/shake.

Are coconut milk and coconut cream / cream of coconut the same?

No - similar, but different. Coconut milk is going to be a bit thinner whereas coconut milk is going to be a bit thicker and creamier. More on this here.

Can I make this as a big batch?

For sure! Just up the serving size by however many you want, and add the ice right before you want to serve so it doesn't water down the drink.

This Strawberry Mint Margarita is so refreshing with fresh strawberries and mint muddled together to release all their flavor and juices, combined with tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave. A perfect fruity cocktail!

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ingredients

A strawberry mint margarita is quite simple to make with just a few ingredients:

    • Strawberries: fresh ripe strawberries to be muddled!
    • Mint: fresh mint leaves pairs so well with strawberries and brings such a fresh herbaceous flavor to the drink
    • Tequila: blanco tequila is best for margaritas
    • Lime juice: fresh squeezed lime juice, always!
    • Orange liqueur: such as triple sec or cointreau - adds a bit of bitterness and herbal/citrusy notes that are in a classic margarita
    • Agave nectar: to add just a hint more of sweetness to bring out the strawberry flavor

    Step by step instructions

This muddled strawberry cocktail is super easy to make in just a few quick steps!

    1. Muddle. In a cocktail shaker, a mason jar, or directly in your glass, muddle the strawberries and mint together until the strawberries release their juices and the mint is very fragrant.

    2. Mix. To the muddled mixture add the tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave. Mix (or shake) to combine. If you made it in a cocktail shaker then pour over a cup of ice. If you made it in a glass then add some ice!

    Tips and tricks

    • Keep it chunky or strain – I like to keep the strawberry and mint pieces in the drink for added flavor, but if you’re really adverse to that then you can strain them out. It just might be a little light on the strawberry flavor!
    • Blend the strawberries – another route for this easy strawberry margarita recipe is to blend the strawberries until smooth and then add the other ingredients!
    • If you don’t have a muddler – the back of a wood spoon will work just fine!
    • For a smoky flavor try mezcal
    • Use a different kind of tequila – Swap blanco tequila for reposado or any other kind - whatever your preference is

    Decorating margarita glasses

Add a lime wedge, lime round, some fresh strawberry pieces, fresh sprig of mint, and/or a salt rim!

To make a lime round, cut a thin slice of lime and then cut upward from the edge towards the center but just shy of the center because once you hit that it’s likely the lime will split and won’t stay on the glass!

You can take the salt rim up a notch by making it a margarita salt rim, which means using a mixture of kosher salt and lime zest

    Making homemade simple syrup

If you want even more flavor, instead of using agave make a homemade mint syrup by warming equal parts water and sugar with some mint leaves until the sugar is dissolved. Then let it cool before adding to the drink. Or just make a regular simple syrup the same way by leaving out the mint.

    FAQs

    Can I use frozen strawberries?

You’d need to let them defrost to the point of being able to smush them, but I don’t see why not, the drink will likely just be a bit more watery.

Can I use a different fruit?

Any other berry would be great!

Can I skip the muddling and blend it?

Sure can! Just add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until combined. For a thicker consistency use frozen strawberries.

Can I use a different alcohol?

Swap the tequila for something like rum to get more of a daiquiri inspired drink!

Can I use a different herb?

Basil would be a great swap!

    What is orange liqueur?

A distilled liqueur flavored with orange so it's slightly sweet and slightly bitter. There are a few different brands - Triple Sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier. Read more on it here.

    Lemon Lime Margarita

lemon lime margarita in a glass with lime and lemon slices.

This Lemon Lime Margarita recipe is absolutely delicious and so easy to quickly make. It takes a classic margarita with lime juice and adds some lemon juice for an extra delightful and refreshing sip.

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ingredients

Adding lemon might just be the secret to a perfect margarita. With just a few simple ingredients you can make a great drink.

    • Tequila: blanco tequila is the way to go for margaritas. It’s simple while still being robust and flavorful but won’t overpower.
    • Lime juice: fresh lime juice is very important when making homemade margaritas - you want that homemade flavor with no extra sweeteners or additives.
    • Lemon juice: same goes for lemon juice as lime juice! Fresh lemon juice is the best way to go.
    • Agave: Because we’re using both lemon and lime juice which are both quite acidic, adding agave nectar to tone that down makes it a perfectly balanced cocktail.

    Step by step instructions

Quite a simple margarita to make! It takes a classic margarita recipe and just makes a small tweak:

Prep: juice your lemons and limes.

    1. Combine all ingredients. In a cocktail shaker (or mason jar) combine tequila, lime juice, lemon juice, and agave. Shake to combine and pour into a cup with ice cubes.

Alternatively, you could combine all ingredients right in a cup filled with ice and stir to combine.

    Tips and tricks

While it's quite simple to make these delicious margaritas the below are some tips and tricks to perfect the recipe and even make it your own with some customizations.

    • FRESH citrus juice – I know I mentioned this above but I cannot stress enough how important this is especially in this lemon lime margarita which has only 4 ingredients. You really can taste the difference between fresh squeezed citrus juice and store-bought.
    • Garnish – I love garnishing this cocktail with a thinly sliced lime wheel and lemon wheel. It’s always fun to garnish with ingredients that are in the cocktail to pull it all together. You could also simply use a lime wedge or lemon wedge. Really whatever shape you'd like to cut the citrus in works!
    • Make a salted rim – rub the rim of a glass with sliced lemon or lime and dip it in kosher salt for that classic margarita look. Or go a step further and make margarita salt which is kosher salt mixed with lime zest. In this case, add some lemon zest too!
      • If you don't have kosher salt, coarse salt or even granulated sugar works although the latter will take it in a sweeter direction.
    • Swap agave syrup for simple syrup – use an equal amount of simple syrup instead of agave if you prefer it.
      • Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water heated on medium heat until the water dissolves. Let it cool before you add it to your drink.
      • Add some flavor into your simple syrup – thyme or lavender would be especially yummy in this recipe. Add them while you are warming the mixture to allow the flavor to integrate in.
    • Equal parts lemon and lime – this recipe uses equal parts lemon and lime juice, but if you prefer one more over the other you can do 1.5oz + .5oz as opposed to 1oz + 1oz
    • Type of tequila – I usually stick with blanco tequila (or silver tequila) for mixed drinks because it's mild in flavor. Something like a reposado (gold tequila) which is a bit more oaky or even mezcal which takes it to a smoky place would be great but you have to know what you're getting into and how the flavor profile will change.
    • Add some spice – add a slice of jalapeño into your cocktail to make it a spicy lemon lime margarita.

    FAQs

    Can I add orange liqueur?

You can! I found with the combination of lemon and lime, adding orange into the party wasn’t also needed but if you really enjoy the flavor of it – add it in!

    What’s the best orange liqueur?

I typically use Cointreau, Triple Sec, or Grand Marnier

Can I prep these in advance?

Sure! Just leave out the ice until you are ready to serve/drink.

Is there any special kind of margarita glass I should use?

Nope! Any glass will be great.

Can I use all lemon instead of both lemon and lime?

Sure! It'll be just a lemon margarita recipe in that case and not a traditional margarita, but totally works. In fact, lemon is a great substitute for lime in margaritas if you’re all out of limes!

    Can I use margarita mix?

    I would avoid margarita mix.

How much do I need to make a pitcher of margaritas?

To make a pitcher (in this case let's say 8 servings) you'll need: 1 ½ cups tequila, 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup lime juice, and ½ cup agave.

These Frozen Raspberry Margaritas recipe makes a such delicious cocktail made with raspberries for a bright fruity flavor. A perfectly refreshing drink that takes a classic cocktail and gives it a little spin! It's especially great because with fresh or frozen raspberries it can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ingredients

Just a few ingredients and you have a delicious raspberry margarita on your hand! This recipe yields a few margaritas.

    • Raspberries: fresh raspberries or frozen raspberries both work. Fresh will yield a thinner consistency drink whereas frozen will be thicker.
    • Tequila: blanco tequila (aka white tequila / clear tequila)! Use whatever your favorite brand is. Does not need to be anything fancy because it’s getting mixed (as opposed to straight tequila on the rocks!)
    • Lime juice: fresh lime juice always!
    • Orange Liqueur: any work - triple sec or cointreau for example
    • Ice: to make it into a frozen drink!

    Step by step instructions

These simple raspberry blended margarita cocktails are super easy to make, making them a great summer batch cocktail.

    1. Add all ingredients to a large high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Pour the blended cocktail into your glass of choice!

    Tips and tricks

Frozen raspberry margaritas are easy peasy to make but the below tips and tricks can help you nail it or put your own little spin.

    • These cocktails will have raspberry seeds in them, so something to be aware of if you’re adverse to that!
    • You can swap almost any other fruit in instead of raspberries such as fresh berries, mango, pineapple, etc!
    • Make a salt rim by rubbing a sliced lime on the rim of the glass and dipping the glass upside down it in a shallow bowl of kosher salt before pouring the drink in. Could also be fun to add some lime zest or tajin to the salt mixture! And don't forget to add a fresh lime wedge or lime wheel.
    • If it’s not sweet enough for your taste just add a little agave nectar or simple syrup. You could even try maple syrup if you don't have agave or simple syrup on hand, it'll just have a little more flavor (as opposed to agave or simple syrup which are both more neutral)
    • To make simple syrup, add equal parts water and granulated sugar to a pot and heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Allow it to cool before you add it to your drink.
    • You can make it a spicy simple syrup by adding a few slices of jalapeño
    • If you go the frozen raspberry route you can make these all year long because frozen fruits are frozen at their peak with tons of flavor! Perfect for when fresh raspberries aren’t in their prime season
    • I used orange liqueur because it'll yield a more classic margarita flavor, but you could sub in raspberry liqueur to really amp up the raspberry flavor.
    • The best margarita glasses are any kind of glasses, don't stress if you don't have one of those fancy stemmed ones, any glass will do

    FAQs:

Can I prep these in advance?

Because of their slush-like nature, they will separate if you prep them in advance. So for that reason I’d recommend blending them up only right before you drink / serve them.

Can I use a different type of tequila?

Sure! If you know you love another type (eg reposado) feel free to swap that in.

    Are raspberry margaritas healthy?

I’m not sure I’d call them healthy, but if you omit the orange liqueur that’ll remove some of the sugar.

    Can I use margarita mix?

I prefer fresh ingredients if you historically really like margarita mix then why not!

Can I make these large batch frozen raspberry margaritas?

Yes! This recipe will make about 3-4 margaritas depending on the size of the cup. So just double/triple the recipe as needed.

Can I make these virgin raspberry margaritas?

Sure! Just leave out the tequila and orange liqueur and sub in water or even something like watermelon juice would be delicious.

What's the best tequila for margaritas?

The best tequila is your favorite tequila :). But any tequila blanco is great because the tequila itself won't add any major flavor profiles (eg smokiness from a mezcal or something).

What salt is best for the rim of a margarita?

Kosher salt is best because of the flavor and coarse-ness. Sea salt will likely be a little too salty. Flavored salt would be delicious!

Can I use a different kind of liquor?

You can, but it won't technically be a margarita anymore!

    Guava Margarita

    Glass of guava margarita.

This Guava Margarita recipe is a perfect summer tequila cocktail – a typical margarita taken up a notch with sweet flavor from guava nectar for a little something extra. It has a unique sweet tropical twist that's so refreshing for warm days, happy hour, taco Tuesdays, or any day in between.

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ingredients

This guava cocktail is great because it just takes a few ingredients:

    • Tequila: tequila blanco is classic for margaritas. If you want a little smoke you could use mezcal.
    • Guava nectar: basically a more concentrated guava juice - more flavor and a bit sweeter. If you can only find guava juice that’ll work just fine.
    • Lime juice: fresh lime juice makes all the difference. If you must buy from the bottle, make sure it’s one of the brands that’s 100% juice and no additives.
    • Orange liqueur: something like triple sec, cointreau, etc.

    Instructions

Just as simple as putting all the ingredients into a cup and just like that you'll have a delicious cocktail!

    Prep: juice the lime(s).

    1. Combine all ingredients in a glass. Fill a glass with ice cubes and add the tequila, guava nectar, lime juice, and orange liquor. Stir to combine!

    Tips and tricks

This is such an easy guava margarita recipe but here are a few tips, tricks, and alternatives to try to make sure it's your perfect margarita

    • Don’t add ice until you’re going to drink it! You don’t want the ice to melt and water it down.
    • Instead of mixing in the cup you could alternatively add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and pour into the cup
    • If you taste it and want it a bit sweeter, you can add some simple syrup or agave nectar but definitely taste it first as the guava juice adds a bit of sweetness
    • Serve with a fresh lime wedge or lime slice for a little flare! To get a full slice on the glass cut at least ¼" slice of lime and then make a slit towards the center (but be careful to not hit the center as that'll likely cause it to split)
    • If you can't find guava nectar, guava juice or guava puree are both fine
    • Add a salt rim to the glass! Take a slice of lime around the rim of each glass glass and then dip it in some kosher salt - you want to use a coarse salt for rimming a margarita glass which is why kosher is preferred
    • You don't need any special margarita glasses for this, any regular glass or even a mason jar works!
    • Make this a spicy guava margarita by adding some jalapeño slices – they'll make the drink spicier as they sit so prep accordingly (if you want it spicier, put them in the tequila advance of drinking the margaritas and let them sit for a little while)
    • While this is an on the rocks margarita, you can make it a frozen guava margarita by adding it to a blender with the ice until your desired consistency is reached

    FAQs

    What is guava nectar?

Guava nectar is basically a thicker guava juice that's made from "squeezing" the pulp of the guava fruit.

    Where are guavas from?

Originally Central and South America but now also grown in Hawaii, California, and Florida.

Is this guava margarita gluten free?

    Yes!

Can I make this into a batch margarita?

Sure can! Multiply by 12x (or however many you need) and pour into a large pitcher.

Can I use margarita mix and add the guava juice?

I’d recommend staying away from margarita mix, there’s usually a bunch of additives and they are overly sweet.

What does on the rocks mean?

On the rocks just means over ice (as opposed to blended)!
